How soon should I contact PB Cambridge Consult before my intended start date? We recommend reaching out at least 12-18 months before your intended enrollment date, especially for competitive programs in the US, UK, and Canada. This timeline allows sufficient time for SAT or IELTS preparation, university research, application drafting, scholarship applications, and visa processing. However, we also work with students on shorter timelines and can recommend rolling-admission or spring-intake universities for those starting later.
Is the initial consultation really free? Yes. Our 30-minute discovery call is completely free with no obligation. During this call, we discuss your academic background, target countries, budget considerations, and timeline. We use this information to give you an honest assessment of your options before any commitment is made on either side.
What documents should I prepare before our first meeting? While not mandatory for the first call, having your recent academic transcripts (SS1-SS3 results or WAEC/NECO results if available), any standardized test scores (SAT, IELTS, TOEFL), and a rough idea of your family's budget for tuition and living costs will help us provide more specific guidance from the outset.
Do you only work with students applying to English-speaking countries? While the majority of our students apply to the US, UK, Canada, and Australia, we also support applications to universities in continental Europe — including programs taught in English in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and other countries that offer tuition-free or low-cost education for international students.
Can parents join the consultation calls? Absolutely — we encourage parental involvement, particularly for younger students. Many of our calls include both the student and one or both parents, since financial planning and family support are critical components of a successful study-abroad journey.
What if I'm not sure which country is right for me? This is one of the most common reasons families reach out to us. Our consultants are trained to help you weigh the trade-offs between countries — cost of living, post-study work visa policies, program duration, cultural fit, and career outcomes — so you can make an informed decision rather than choosing based on assumptions or incomplete information.
Our Port Harcourt office welcomes walk-in visitors during business hours, though we recommend scheduling an appointment to ensure a consultant is available to meet with you. For families outside Rivers State, all our services are available via video consultation, and we regularly conduct virtual SAT preparation classes and application workshops that students can join from anywhere in Nigeria.
We also organize periodic information sessions and workshops at partner schools across different states — keep an eye on our social media channels for announcements about upcoming events in your area, including PBC iSAT registration periods and EduAid outreach programs.
Once you submit an inquiry, a member of our team reviews your message and responds with either an answer to your specific question or, for more involved inquiries, a suggestion to book a free consultation call where we can discuss your situation in depth. We aim to ensure every family who reaches out — regardless of where they are in their journey — receives a thoughtful, personalized response rather than a generic auto-reply.
At PB Cambridge Consult, we understand that reaching out to an education consultant for the first time can feel daunting. Families often arrive with a mixture of hope, uncertainty, and questions they are not sure how to phrase. Our team is trained to listen carefully, ask the right follow-up questions, and create a space where both students and parents feel comfortable being honest about their circumstances, concerns, and ambitions. There are no foolish questions in international education consulting — the process is genuinely complex, and every family deserves clear, patient, and honest guidance tailored to their specific situation. We respond to every inquiry personally, never with automated templates, because we believe the quality of that first interaction sets the tone for the entire consulting relationship. Whether you are a parent researching options for your child who is still in SS2, or a student who has already received an offer and needs help with the next steps, we are here to help you move forward with confidence.
